How to Use the Subnet Calculator

This Subnet Calculator helps you determine the number of subnets, subnet bits, and usable hosts per subnet based on your IP address and subnet mask. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Enter the IP Address: Type the IP address you want to calculate (e.g., 192.168.1.1). Make sure it’s in a valid IPv4 format.

  2. Enter the Subnet Mask: Enter the subnet mask for your network (e.g., 255.255.255.0). The subnet mask determines how the IP address is divided into network and host portions.

  3. Click “Calculate Subnet”: Press the button to calculate your results.

  4. View the Results:

    • Subnet Bits: Shows the number of bits used for subnetting, based on your subnet mask.
    • Number of Subnets: Indicates the potential number of subnets in your network.
    • Usable Hosts per Subnet: Displays the maximum number of devices (hosts) you can connect within each subnet, excluding the reserved network and broadcast addresses.
